Church records are oftentimes the backbone of German genealogical research. Locating and analyzing these records is usually the key to establishing ancestral kinship between German settlers in Wisconsin and their forebears. I am experienced in locating and analyzing both Catholic and Lutheran church records, whether written in German or in Latin, in places either currently or historically home to Germans.
Church Records
Most of Wisconsin’s German settlers arrived during the 19th century. Many of them settled at rural places throughout the state. These German settlers cleared the wild lands and established farmsteads on the frontier. They built many of the villages and stone churches throughout the countryside of Wisconsin. I am experienced in researching the lives, deaths, and ancestral roots of German settlers in rural Wisconsin.
Rural Settlers
Many German settlers and their sons fought in the American Civil War to preserve the union. These men either enlisted in or were drafted into the northern army. Many of these German men served in regiments from Wisconsin. I am experienced in researching the military services of these union veterans, as well as researching the histories and accomplishments of the Wisconsin regiments they served within.
